During the course you will learn about Microsoft Windows (your computer’s operating system), explore the World Wide Web, communicate with others using e-mail and learn the basic functions of word processing and spreadsheets. Your skills and confidence will quickly develop with the help of interactive learning programmes which explain, demonstrate and then let you try for yourself.
Skills Check - A skills check will check your current knowledge and will indicate the areas that you need to work on.
Module 1 - Using your computer Shows you how to open applications and work within the Microsoft Windows environment.
Module 2 - Using the Internet Log on to the Internet and search the WWW safely and wisely using different types of search engines, saving and printing your results.
Module 3 - using email Learn how to use an E-mail account using Microsoft Outlook Express. Write and spell check new messages, send, receive and optionally print out important e-mails.
Module 4 - word processing Prepare, print, save and retrieve professional looking documents. Learn how to use input, editing and formatting tools.
Module 5 - spreadsheets Record, analyse and present numeric data in a user friendly programme.
